esigned for standard 10-ft walls, this set includes 5 full-length panels at 118″ for seamless, floor-to-ceiling coverage with no cutting required. The extended height creates a strong vertical presence, making it an ideal solution for modern residential and commercial spaces where scale and proportion matter.
Defined by its wider slat profile and refined spacing, this panel offers a more architectural, design-forward look than traditional slat walls. Fewer, broader slats create a sense of openness and rhythm, while the beige felt backing introduces a soft, tonal contrast that feels warm, cohesive, and understated.
Finished in natural White Oak, each panel highlights subtle grain variation while maintaining a bright, airy aesthetic. Backed with recycled felt for added acoustic softness, the ultralight 9mm construction is flexible, easy to trim, and suitable for both flat and gently curved surfaces. Rooted in Scandinavian design, this panel delivers a clean, modern finish with elevated material presence—perfect for light-filled, high-ceiling interiors.
Three broad faces, not seven narrow ones. Each face is 3.82″ across and the shadow reveal between them is 3mm — roughly one thirtieth of the face beside it. The wall reads as planked timber rather than as a slat panel, which is what you want behind a bed, a sofa or a desk where a busy rhythm would compete with the furniture.
Nothing rigid inside it. No MDF, no hardwood backer, no core of any kind — just real wood veneer laminated straight onto 9mm acoustic felt. The panel takes a gentle curve as it comes: a column, a cove, a broad radius wall, with no kerfing, no steaming and no relief cuts.
About three pounds a panel. A full eight-foot panel weighs roughly 3 lbs and a box of five runs about 15 lbs. You can carry a box up a flight of stairs in one hand, hold a panel flat against the wall with one arm and fix it with the other. Most single walls are a one-person afternoon.
It barely takes the room. The whole panel measures 9mm — about the thickness of a pencil lying on its side. Shallow enough for ceilings, door reveals and rooms where a deeper panel would read as bulk instead of texture.
Real wood veneer, not a printed film. Every face carries the grain of the log it came from, so no two are identical and a run reads as timber rather than as a repeat. Three finishes — White Oak, Walnut and Dark Smoke Oak — each paired with a felt colour.
59″ of wall in one box. Five panels, 11.80″ each. Fewer boxes on the order and fewer seams to line up on the wall.
The face. Real wood veneer, laminated directly onto the felt with nothing between the two. Three finishes — White Oak on beige felt, Walnut and Dark Smoke Oak on brown. Felt colour matters more than it sounds: it is what you see in every reveal, so it sets how much contrast the rhythm carries.
The backing. 9mm acoustic felt made from post-consumer recycled PET, bottles diverted from waste and spun into felt. The felt is what takes the hard edge off a room with a lot of bare surfaces.
The reveals. Each shadow reveal is a 90° v-cut machined 1.5mm into the felt between the faces. The remaining 7.5mm runs unbroken the full height of the panel as a continuous backbone — it holds the panel together and it is what lets the panel flex instead of creasing.
The measurements. Each face is 97mm (3.82″) wide and each reveal 3mm, so the rhythm repeats every 100mm (3.94″). A panel carries three faces across 11.80″, 9mm thick in total.
The edges. Each end of a panel carries a 1.5mm chamfer. Butt two panels together and the two chamfers close into a 3mm reveal identical to the two inside a panel — no lip, no overlap and nothing to align. It is also why a panel covers its full 11.80″ once installed, with nothing lost to a lap.
| Panel height | Width per box | Coverage per box |
|---|---|---|
| 94.49″2400mm | 59″ 1499mm | 38.71 sq ft |
| 106″2693mm | 59″ 1499mm | 43.43 sq ft |
| 118.11″3000mm | 59″ 1499mm | 48.39 sq ft |
Only the height changes — every box is 59″ wide. To work out how many you need, divide your wall width in inches by 59 and round up: a 10-foot wall (120″) takes three boxes. Each panel has a 1.5mm chamfer on both edges, so panels butt together into a 3mm shadow reveal and every panel covers its full width of wall — nothing is lost to an overlap.
Before you start. Work out your box count first: each box covers 59″ of wall width, so divide your wall width in inches by 59 and round up — a ten-foot wall takes three boxes. Order it all at once so every panel comes from the same production run; veneer varies batch to batch.
Mounting. Panels fix to the wall with construction adhesive, straight onto drywall or plaster, with no battens or subframe to build first. Screws are not an option on this profile — the shadow reveal is 3mm wide and a screw head is wider than that, so there is nowhere for one to sit. Finishing nails do work: the head is small enough to seat down in the reveal and disappear, which makes them useful for pinning a panel while the adhesive takes. Start at one end of the run and work across in the same direction.
Curves. This profile suits gentle curves — columns, cove walls, broad radius sweeps — rather than tight bends. Fix one end first, then work along the curve fixing as you go and letting the panel take the shape of the wall. Do not flatten it out and try to bend it afterwards. For a tight radius, use the standard ULTRALIGHT slat instead: it carries six reveals per panel cut four times deeper, so it wraps much harder.
Butting panels. Push each panel up against the last one. The chamfer on each end closes into a full reveal, so keep the panels tight rather than leaving a gap to match the others — the spacing takes care of itself.
Cutting. A fine-tooth blade through the veneer face and a sharp knife through the felt. Cut along a reveal wherever you can and the join reads as another reveal. For height, cut from the bottom so the factory edge stays at eye level.
Care. Dust the veneer with a dry or barely damp cloth, following the grain, and vacuum the reveals on a low setting with a soft brush head. Skip solvents, wax and steam. Indoor use only — not for bathrooms with a shower, saunas, or anywhere outdoors.

ULTRALIGHT Wide. Real wood on a felt backbone.
What Makes It Different
Three broad faces to a panel instead of narrow ones. Same coreless build, same felt backbone — a quieter, more architectural wall that still weighs almost nothing.

The Minimalist Profile
Fewer lines is the whole idea. With less pattern competing for attention the eye reads a plane of timber first and the rhythm second — which is why it sits behind a bed, a sofa or a desk without taking the room over. Each face is 3.82″ across, divided by a 3mm shadow reveal.

Cut, Not Assembled
The dark line between each face is the acoustic felt — and it is also the back of the panel. Every reveal is a 90° v-cut machined 1.5mm into that felt at the same width and spacing, so the rhythm holds across a whole wall. No core, no backer, nothing glued in behind.

Seams You Have to Look For
Each panel end carries a 1.5mm chamfer. Butt two panels together and the pair closes into a 3mm reveal identical to the two inside a panel — no lip, no overlap, nothing to line up. Every twelve inches there is a seam, and none of them announce themselves.

Light Enough to Install Solo
Light enough to hold flat against the wall with one arm while you fix it with the other. No helper, no trestles, no waiting for someone to be free on a Saturday.

Product specification
These are the actual milled dimensions, not nominal ones. Each box holds five panels and covers 59.00″ of wall width — so a ten-foot wall takes three boxes.

FAQ
What is an ULTRALIGHT Wide acoustic slat panel?
ULTRALIGHT Wide is a flexible acoustic wood wall panel with broad plank faces. Real wood veneer is laminated straight onto 9mm recycled acoustic felt, and shadow reveals are machined into the felt between the faces. There is no MDF, no hardwood backer and no rigid core of any kind.
Each panel is 11.80″ wide and carries three faces of 3.82″. Five panels come in a box and cover 59″ of wall width. It is the same construction as the standard ULTRALIGHT slat, with three wide faces in place of seven narrow ones.
How thick are ULTRALIGHT Wide panels?
ULTRALIGHT Wide panels are 9mm thick in total — about 0.35 of an inch. That is the veneer face and the acoustic felt together, because there is no core between them.
It is the shallowest panel Slats.co sells, which makes it workable on ceilings, in door reveals and anywhere a deeper panel would read as bulk rather than texture.
Do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels have an MDF core?
No. ULTRALIGHT Wide has no MDF, no particle board, no plywood and no hardwood backer — there is no core at all. The wood veneer is laminated directly onto 9mm recycled acoustic felt.
That is the reason the panel is light enough to handle alone and flexible enough to follow a curve. Slats.co panels with a hardwood core, such as TrueWood and the Solid line, are built differently and suit different jobs.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels bend around a curved wall?
Gentle curves, yes — columns, cove walls and broad radius sweeps. The panel has no rigid core, so it flexes the way 9mm felt flexes, with no kerfing, steaming or relief cuts.
It will not wrap a tight radius the way the standard ULTRALIGHT slat does. That profile carries six reveals per panel cut four times deeper, which makes it a far more flexible panel. For a tight curve, choose the standard slat.
How much does a box of ULTRALIGHT Wide panels weigh?
A box of five ULTRALIGHT Wide panels weighs about 15 lbs at 94.49″, 20 lbs at 106″ and 25 lbs at 118.11″.
That is light enough to carry up a flight of stairs and to hold a panel flat against the wall while you fix it, without a second pair of hands.
How many panels are in a box of ULTRALIGHT Wide?
Five panels. Each panel is 11.80″ wide, so a box covers 59.00″ of wall width — the widest coverage per box Slats.co sells.
By height that works out to 38.71 sq ft at 94.49″, 43.43 sq ft at 106″ and 48.39 sq ft at 118.11″.
How wide is one ULTRALIGHT Wide panel?
Each panel is 11.80″ wide — 300mm. That is three faces at 3.82″ each, separated by 3mm shadow reveals.
Because each end of the panel carries a 1.5mm chamfer, the panel covers the full 11.80″ once installed. There is no lap or overlap to subtract.
How many slats does an ULTRALIGHT Wide panel have?
Three faces per panel, with two shadow reveals between them and a 1.5mm chamfer at each end.
Each face measures 3.82″ across and each reveal 3mm, so the rhythm repeats every 3.94″ along the wall.
How do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels join together?
They butt straight into each other. Each end carries a 1.5mm chamfer, so when two panels meet the two chamfers close into a 3mm shadow reveal identical to the two inside a panel.
There is no lip, no overlap and nothing to align. Push the next panel up against the last one and the seam disappears into the rhythm of the reveals.
How many boxes of ULTRALIGHT Wide do I need?
Measure the width of your wall in inches and divide by 59 — each box covers 59.00″ of wall width. Round up, because the offcut from the last panel usually finds a use elsewhere on the wall.
A ten-foot wall (120″) takes three boxes. A sixteen-foot wall (192″) takes four. If you are unsure, send us your measurements and we will work it out with you.
How do you install ULTRALIGHT Wide panels?
Panels fix to the wall with construction adhesive. Screws are not an option on this profile — the shadow reveal is only 3mm wide, so there is nowhere for a screw head to sit. Finishing nails do work: the head is small enough to seat down in the reveal and disappear, and they are handy for pinning a panel while the adhesive takes.
Start from one end, check the first panel is plumb, then butt each following panel up against the last. Most walls are a one-person job at this weight.
Do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels need a batten or frame behind them?
No. ULTRALIGHT Wide fixes straight to the wall surface — drywall, plaster or timber — with construction adhesive. No battens, no furring strips and no subframe.
That is part of why the panel only takes 9mm off the room. On a curved or uneven surface, fixing straight to the wall also lets the panel follow the shape rather than bridging it.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels be installed on a ceiling?
Yes. At 9mm thick and about 15 lbs a box, it is easy to take overhead.
Use construction adhesive and pin each panel with finishing nails while it cures, rather than relying on adhesive alone. Work along one line so the reveals stay continuous across the span.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels be cut to size?
Yes. Cut the veneer face with a fine-tooth blade and the felt with a sharp knife.
Wherever you can, cut along a reveal — the join then reads as another reveal instead of a cut edge. For height, cut from the bottom so the factory edge stays at eye level.
How do I cut ULTRALIGHT Wide around outlets and light switches?
Mark the opening on the face of the panel, then cut the veneer with a sharp knife or a fine-tooth blade and peel the felt back behind it.
Because the felt is only 9mm and has no rigid core, it cuts cleanly without chipping or blowing out the back. A cover plate sits over the edge and hides the cut.
Can I mount a TV or shelves on ULTRALIGHT Wide panels?
Yes, but fix into the wall behind, never into the panel. It is veneer on felt with no rigid core, so it carries no structural load at all.
Locate your studs before you panel, mark them, then run your bracket fixings through the panel and into the stud.
Do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels absorb sound?
The 9mm recycled felt backing softens echo and reverb in a room. In practice people notice a room sounding warmer and less live, particularly in spaces with hard floors and bare walls.
With only two reveals per panel, less felt edge is exposed than on the standard slat, so treat the acoustic effect as a bonus rather than the reason to buy. Slats.co does not publish an NRC rating, so we will not quote one.
Are ULTRALIGHT Wide panels fire-rated?
Our panels are not fire rated. If a fire rating is required for your project, check with your contractor or your local building code before ordering.
What sizes do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels come in?
Three heights for the standard slat: 94.49″ for eight-foot walls, 106″ for nine-foot walls and 118.11″ for ten-foot walls. All three are 11.80″ wide per panel, five panels to a box.
There is also a 47″ tile size sold separately for smaller areas and feature bands.
What finishes do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels come in?
Three: White Oak on beige felt, Walnut on brown felt and Dark Smoke Oak on brown felt.
Felt colour matters more than it sounds — it is the colour you see in every reveal, so it sets how much contrast the rhythm carries.
Is ULTRALIGHT Wide real wood?
Yes. The face is real wood veneer, not a printed film or a photographic laminate.
Because it is real wood, the grain varies from panel to panel and from batch to batch. That is worth knowing if you are matching an order placed months apart — order the whole wall together where you can.
How much does shipping cost on ULTRALIGHT Wide panels?
Shipping is free to the contiguous U.S. on most ULTRALIGHT Wide orders. The exceptions are samples, and 118.11″ panels ordered in quantities of 1 to 3 boxes, where shipping is calculated at checkout.
Order 4 or more boxes of 118.11″ panels and shipping is free. The 118.11″ boxes are long enough to move by freight rather than parcel, which is why the carrier rate shows up on smaller orders.
How long do ULTRALIGHT Wide panels take to arrive?
Most ULTRALIGHT Wide orders leave the warehouse within one to two business days, with delivery to the contiguous U.S. typically inside a week.
Freight shipments of 118.11″ panels take longer and are booked with a delivery appointment. The delivery estimate on the product page reflects the current lead time for the size and finish you are looking at.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels be used in a bathroom or outdoors?
ULTRALIGHT Wide is for indoor use only. It is not suitable for outdoors, saunas, or bathrooms with a shower or bath in the same room.
A powder room with good ventilation and no shower is usually fine. Wood veneer and felt both take on moisture, and neither recovers well once they have.
How do I clean ULTRALIGHT Wide panels?
Dust the veneer with a dry or barely damp cloth, following the grain. Vacuum the felt in the reveals on a low setting with a soft brush head.
No solvents, no wax, no polish and no steam. If something is spilled on the felt, blot it up rather than wiping across.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels be painted or stained?
We do not recommend it. The face is a thin real wood veneer, and stain lifts unevenly while paint fills the reveals and flattens the rhythm the panel is there for.
If you want a painted finish, the Paint-Ready Fluted line is made for exactly that — it ships pre-primed white and is designed to be painted in your own colour.
Will ULTRALIGHT Wide panels expand or contract?
No meaningful movement. There is no solid timber and no MDF in the panel, so there is nothing to swell or shrink with humidity the way a cored panel can.
You do not need expansion gaps at the seams. Butt the panels tight and they stay tight.
Can ULTRALIGHT Wide panels be taken down again?
Not cleanly. ULTRALIGHT Wide mounts with construction adhesive, which is not designed to release — expect to damage the panel and the wall surface taking it off.
If you need panels that come down and travel with you, choose the standard ULTRALIGHT slat instead. Its reveals are wide and deep enough to take a screw head, so it fixes with screws and unfixes the same way.
Are ULTRALIGHT Wide panels renter-friendly?
Less so than the standard ULTRALIGHT slat. This profile mounts with construction adhesive, which will mark the wall when it comes off, so check your tenancy agreement before you commit a wall to it.
If you are renting, the standard ULTRALIGHT slat is the better pick — it fixes with screws through the groove and leaves only small holes to fill.
Are ULTRALIGHT Wide panels eco-friendly?
The 9mm felt backing is made from post-consumer recycled PET — plastic bottles diverted from waste and spun into felt. The panels are independently tested to meet low-VOC standards.
Slats.co also plants a tree for every panel sold. And because ULTRALIGHT Wide uses veneer rather than solid timber, a given log covers far more wall.
Does Slats.co offer ULTRALIGHT Wide samples?
Yes. Individual ULTRALIGHT Wide samples are $7.99 each, and the full sample kit is $15.
Worth doing. Veneer colour and felt colour both shift under different light, and a sample on your own wall answers that in a way a screen cannot.
Where is Slats.co based?
Slats.co is a Southern California company, shipping across the contiguous United States.
